If you're a first time visitor to the red planet- welcome! My name is Megan, (though most call me Meg) and I am the editor-in-chief of Red Planet Magazine- and an Earth native who is concerned (translated: HORRIFIED) about the state of our environment.
Last month, Red Planet Magazine pledged to take action against climate change, and today that action begins. Every month in 2020 I will be sharing ways in which I am personally making lifestyle changes to reduce my carbon footprint, and ways you can do the same!
As many of us know, one major contributing factor to climate change is plastic, in particular, single-use plastics. I am pledging to eliminate all single-use plastics from my household, and a majority of plastic products overall by the end of 2020.
For the month of January, I will be purging all plastic containers for a common household staple: soap.
I knew that eliminating plastic would be one of the most difficult changes to make, because plastic is EVERYWHERE. So I decided the best way to begin was to start small and eliminate one category at a time. Since most soaps can easily be held in reusable, eco-friendly containers, I thought this would be the best place to start.
Stay tuned to read about my journey to find sustainable replacements for all my soaps, detergents, and cleaning products that are typically sold in single-use plastic containers!
